Family Health Plan Insurance TPA Limited (FHPL), incorporated in 1995 and licenced by IRDAI in 2002, is today one of the largest and most reputed IRDAI-licensed third-party administrators (TPAs) in the country. My primary responsibilities include modernizing applications and infrastructure, implementing security measures, and overseeing enterprise architecture development.

Currently, I am working on improving the digital experience for customers to significantly reduce approval wait time for Healthcare Claims from current 2hrs to 2 mins and 5 days to 1 day for Cashless and Reimbursement claims respectively.

Few of the key responsibilities and achievements include:

  • Manage the entire IT function (both applications and infrastructure) with a team of 120 members.

  • Owner of systems that manage the health insurance needs of 10 million individuals.

  • Ensure all processes and systems are compliant with ISO/IEC 27001 standards to safeguard data and security.

  • Implement SOC (Security Operations Center) with TrendMicro Vision One for cloud, network, and endpoint systems.

  • Addressed critical downtime and performance issues in applications and networks that were affecting business operations.

  • Reduced overall cloud costs by 18% by optimizing compute, storage, and bandwidth.

My primary responsibility was to design a fully cloud-based system for the bank's retail business to digitize customer journeys for personal loans, credit cards, and business loans and reduce application processing times. This was the bank's first journey into the cloud.

Project: Digital Factory

The objective of this project is to provide a seamless digital experience to customers throughout the entire loan application process. This project involved understanding all the existing core banking systems and designing the architecture for the entire loan management and automation journey. The system connects to lot of On-Prem systems like CDP, Loan Origination Systems, Credit Information Center, Credit Scoring Systems, CIF/CASA Core banking systems, Sales Application, etc.
 

  • Create detailed architecture diagrams, technical workflows and Infrastructure diagrams connecting On-Prem and Cloud Services (EC2, API Gateways, Firewall, Storage, etc.) meeting the needs of DevSecOps, High Availability, Security, Scalability & Disaster Recovery

  • Design architecture based on MicroServices Architecture involving various components and systems.

  • Framework and got certified by independent AWS Well Architected Framework Audit team.

  • Setup and share best standards and processes for architecture development, collaboration between multiple teams working on individual use cases

  • Conduct Workshops to client resources on Architecture, Agile Methodology, Project Management and Coding practices

  • Onboard SI vendor and manage the overall development phase adhering to OWASP10 standards

  • Project Monitoring including daily review of progress using Burndown charts, Jira tasks & bugs, etc

  • Introduce and ensure all kinds of Non-Functional tests like VAPT & Performance (Stress, Load, Soak) are performed and benchmarks are achieved in the final output

  • Tools Used: Miro, Jira, Atlassian, Jenkins, Selenium, SonarQube, DependencyTrack, etc.

  • Tech Stack: Spring Boot, React, Docker, MySQL, KeyCloak, AWS Cloud Watch, S3, etc.
